4400

Hurrah! For arguably the first time since 3001, my adoring fans count references genre fiction! [1]

This got me to thinking, what's next? Are there any quadruple figure references passed The 4400, or am I going to have to wait. Off the top of my head I can't get beyond Warhammer 40,000, which frankly is less than encouraging.

Update: Just remembered Terror From The Year 5000, so that's a weight off my mind.

[1] Or at least it will until someone actually gets to read this, at which point it will no longer be true. It's all very existential; if a sci-fi fan makes an obscure reference, and no-one hears it, is he still desperately sad?

I offer 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, but it still isn't great.

Progress, though; I calculate I will reach 20 000 in around 18 months or so.

Beyond 3 digits I think we've passed most of the significant numbers, those being either dates around the 20th/21st centuries, or else governed by Benford's Law (a favourite of Dr J's, I think).

But if you're willing to lower your standards a bit we can halve the bar again with The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues.

Only a mathematician would be trying to make a list of 'exciting' pop culture cross reference numbers.....

Any combination of below should work.

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, & 42

I presume the ultimate goal is to reference the album "01011001" by Ayreon?
